Types of Guidance


General types

1.         Educational guidance – Educational Guidance is defined as the guidance which a child or student needs during academic life for selection of subjects and face challenges.

2.         Vocational guidance – The providing help to the individual to become aware of his strengths and weaknesses in in professional settings and to choose a vocation. In other words, vocational guidance is a process of helping individuals or people to cope with problems relating to occupational choices, plans, developments, adjustments and maturity.

3.         Personal guidance – A guidance given to an individual to overcome his challenges of adjustment. A kind of assistance given to individual to deal with his emotional, social, ethical, and moral as well as health challenges. It can be oral as well as written assistance to make adjustment in life and take life in right perspective.

 

Geeta and Guidance

1.         Remain fear from anger, attachment and fear (2.56)

2.         Do your duty (karma) because doing it is better than not doing (3.8)

3.         Work continue without worrying for the results (3.19)

4.         Remain ready to engage in daily prescribed duty (3.22)

5.         Work without attachment (3.25)

6.         Do your duty even tinged with mistakes instead of following others (3.35)

7.         Self-realization and restrained Mind is the key of success (6.36)

8.         Become ‘Yogi’ by doing duty (कर्म से), gaining knowledge, practicing penance, i.e.  by all means (6.46).

 

Proctor’s Guidance 

1.         Educational guidance,

3.         Guidance in social and civil activities,

4.         Guidance in health and physical activities,

5.         Guidance in worthy use of leisure, and

6.         Guidance in character building activities.

 

Paterson’s Guidance

1.         Educational guidance,

5.         Economic

Guidance on the basis of Method   

1.         Group Guidance – Group guidance can deal with challenges people face in common.

2.         Individual Guidance – Guiding an individual in dealing with challenges that occur in all spheres of life.
